Howdy Earthlings.

Xran here, to simplify the complicated after it's been complicated by the simple. Now I'm sure that many folks have heard about the Human Rights Commission complaints filed against Mark Steyn and Maclean's Magazine, but a lot of people don't know the details. So allow me to explain...
This is...

A Venerable Canadian News Magazine.
One day it printed an essay by this man

a popular conservative columnist
It was about the threat posed by these people...

to the nation of

The article raised a little controversy and many letters to the editors were written and many were published.
6 MONTHS LATER
These folks

(artist's conception)
Declared that they were
OFFENDED
By the

And
DEMANDED
that an entire issue of

be...
WRITTEN BY

EDITED BY

&

With no
EDITORIAL OVERSIGHT
of this special issues content on anything but grammar
by the people who actually own and operate the magazine

said

Because saying YES would be

So the

Now the question you might ask is...
WHY
file complaints with multiple

instead of just filing a
LAWSUIT
in a

The answer is simple...

were the creation of this man

Canada's Former Prime Minister

didn't think highly of Canada's tradition of

with its rights of...
HABEAS CORPUS
DUE PROCESS
SPEEDY & FAIR TRIAL
&
THE PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE
So Trudeau created the

with the touchy feely mandate of
PROTECTING HUMAN RIGHTS
However for these

don't allow such things as...
HABEAS CORPUS
DUE PROCESS
SPEEDY & FAIR TRIAL
&
THE PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE
In fact

specifically...
DON'T NEED ANY BODY OF EVIDENCE FOR THE PROSECUTION OF COMPLAINTS OTHER THAN THE WORD OF THE ACCUSER
THE PROCESS IS NOT GUIDED BY THE RULE OF LAW, BUT THE WHIM OF THE ACCUSERS AND THE COMMISSIONERS
HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION HEARINGS CAN TAKE AS LONG AS THEY LIKE.
ACCUSERS DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR ANYTHING, UNLIKE A CIVIL TRIAL, BUT THE ACCUSED HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR OWN DEFENCE.
THERE IS NO PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE
BUT A PRESUMPTION OF GUILT
Which is why

win around
100%
of all cases brought before them.
So it's more like a

or a

than a legal proceeding.
So the...

CAN'T POSSIBLY LOSE
Meaning that
FREE SPEECH
in

is
DEAD
How much will you bet that I'll get a Human Rights Commission Complaint over this?
I hope that clears things up for you.

Human Rights Commission? Is that part of the Thought Police, or is it some other division inside the Ministry of Love?
Damn you guys are good...
So simple no intellectual could possibly understand. Not nuanced enough damnit!!!
you're too damned obvious, too damned logical, too simple, and waay too clear for our social liberals to understand. only a 2x4 cracked against the back of one's subjective head might make defenders of HRCs get it.
keep it simple! love it...
i'm gonna print it out if i can.
it's just too good.
I have the utmost confidence that some speech will continue to be free in Canada. I am sure the lovely Canadian tradition of badmouthing their neighbors to the south will continue to be protected, cherished and encouraged.
Perfect.
"lovely Canadian tradition of badmouthing their neighbors to the south "
That's more of a Canadian lefty thing, dorkelina, rest of us like you pretty much.
Thanx Xran, but I'm still somewhat confused. If we allow everybody to say whatever they want, won't everyone be tricked into believing the bad people and then automatically go do bad things? How can that be good?
Doesn't every nation which cherishes freedom need a 'human rights' commission in order to keep the bad people from fooling all the good people? Gee I don't know how our neighbors down south can possibly make do without these wonderful tools of matriarchal big government.
We simple Canadian must not be smart enough to think for ourselves, which is why the divinely inspired Mr. Trudeau created 14 'human rights' commissions full of highly-skilled and wise intellectuals like Barbara Hall, Richard Warman and Dean Steacy to save us peasants from near-certain cultural armageddon.
This is a keeper!
How concise, but "they" still won't get it.
Dorkelina, the rest of us who don't watch LSM still consider our (Americans) neighbours, who have lived in peace with us for almost 200 years, people of peace.
Can anyone tell me of two other countries where the people are so alike, that while in other countries others can't tell us apart? Been my personal experience.
Well maybe 'cept QC la la land, but 'ya know, we've got our special ones as well... as you have California.
;)
our friends south of the border are rapidly moving in the same direction as canada, mleftward. they will have their own hrc's very soon. some states already heve an equivelent.the world is screwed.
Latest: Despite all efforts, the controversy has escalated to real law courts, where evidence and cross-examination etc. are taken into account.
Loud sounds of complaints being dropped to the floor, scurrying would-be auto-de-fey celebrants heading for bolt holes, and mealy-mouthed apologies by accusers.
Heh. Steyn Rules!
Great statement!!
